De Kaag (water-sports)

Located in the centre of the Randstad (conurbation), between Amsterdam and Leiden are the Kagerplassen (the Kaag Lakes). The village of Buitenkaag lies directly on the lakes, in the southern part of the Haarlemmermeer and across the Ringvaart lies an island, Kagereiland, on which the picturesque village of Kaag is situated.

As soon as you step off the ferry, it feels like you've entered a different world. The many monumental buildings give you the impression that time stood still in this unique watersport resort. The Kagerplassen are a true paradise for those who love sailing, canoeing, rowing, waterskiing, skating and fishing.

In Buitenkaag and Kaag more than 150 open boats are available for rent. In spite of all watersport activities Kaag has a peaceful atmosphere. The magnificient views over water and meadows invite you to take a walk or a drink on one of the many waterside terraces.

In this “double-village” you will find many restaurants, watersport related companies, sailing schools, playing grounds for the little ones and many overnight facilities.
